What we assume never existed is what we invariably find

This started out as a small project to explore pioneering female film makers, but they found SO MANY that it has been turned into a full scale web resource instead.

Apparently, there were more women working in the film industry in the early pioneering years than there have ever been in modern times. I am going to try and dig up some films from that era made by female film-makers like Nell Shipman (maker of the most financially successful silent film in Canada!) and the Mcdonagh Sisters a group of pioneering siblings who made waves in the Australian film industry during the silent film era. Awesome, can’t wait to get my history on with these ladies.
